I Like Thursday # 163 ~ Good Morning! from Life in the Scrapatch

Good Morning!

Today is ...

I Like Thursday @ Not Afraid of Color

This week LeeAnna asked us if we are a night owl or morning person

and if we are happy with what we are.

I am a bit of both and have a seasonal approach.

The phrase I think of when I hear this question is:

"Turn Around and Say Good Morning to the Night"

Listen to "Good Morning To the Night"

by Elton John ~ Remix Lyric Video

In winter, when the days are short and the temperatures are well below freezing

and we keep the thermostat low, I am ...

AccuquiltGo! Thoughts & Bear’s Paw Block from Mulberry Patch Quilts

I purchased an Accuquilt Go die cutter awhile ago and have made so many great projects with it, including tumbler block baby quilts and Dresden Plate table toppers. But I wanted to use a combination of dies to create some other basic, well-known quilting blocks.

My original purchase of my AccuquiltGo! included a combination die (above). It has on it a 2” finished square, a couple 2” finished half square triangles (HST), and a 4” finished square.

Hey, that’s all I need to make the basic Bear’s Claw block! Perfect.

I haven’t yet purchased any of the ...

Progress Report from Moda Lissa

There were times in my life that I hated the term progress report. You know, there was always that one class that was problematic or maybe I was problematic as the student.

I can’t think of any better term for holding myself accountable and logging my progress than “progress report” to keep me on track.

The cool thing is that I get to give myself my own grade.

This week I received a B-.

I  have finished a few projects, started a few new ones and completely ignored others.

UPDATE:
More blocks for my red and white quilt.

half-square ...

BH 3- Robin Pickens- 25 from Moda Lissa

GIVEAWAY- CLOSED    Winner- QUILTSONG notified

Today is Robin Pickens turn to share a quilt block named

CORNER GARDEN.

It is no surprise to anyone since each of her fabric collections are based on the study of flowers that Robin’s quilt block would also be a flower. I had a lot of fun piecing this block even though my leaves are cock-eyed.

block #25

To get the pattern, visit Robin’s blog, but you may want to read a little further because the Blockheads have some other goodies in store for you.

I wanted to take a few minutes and ...

BlockHeads- Robin Pickens- Block 11 from Moda Lissa

Block 11  was tough for me. I haven’t been able to focus. I could not decide what to do with my fabrics. Then I read Robin’s inspiration for her block and I jumped right in.

You can get the pattern at Robin’s blog, click here. Be sure and also follow Robin on Instagram, here.

By bringing the shapes together and uniting them with HST blocks in the center, the block can play as a flower bloom with petals or a clover. Using the color play of accentuating a side in reds/pinks brings out the heart in ...

Blockheads3- Sherri McConnell from Moda Lissa

SUNSHINE STAR

Welcome to block 2 in the Blockheads 3 series.
( that sounds weird)
This week’s block is designed by Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life and she is one of the sweetest people I know. I will probably be saying that a lot on my Blockheads posts because I do think these gals are the best!

I am not sure what my layout is going to be so I am making some of the simpler blocks in a variety of sizes. If I don’t use the 4″ blocks they can always be used as quilt labels, pincushions ...
